FTC Robotics Registration

What to Expect

– FIRST Robotics teaches gracious professionalism. We will follow that same principle.
– Students will be exposed to industry leaders in all STEM related fields.
– In the pre-season, the team will work on several projects to prepare them for the build season. The volunteer team coaches, mentors and guest speakers will guide the students, but they will be expected to complete tasks on their own.
– During the build season, the team will follow the engineering design process once the challenge has been revealed by FIRST. Then they will begin building a prototype.

**** Photo Release ****

A Photo Release will be submitted for FIRST Robotics and TOAST.

– The team will be divided into smaller functional groups, i.e. build, program, strategy, etc. It is at this stage the students will learn the power of diversity and teamwork.
– The team must prepare, maintain and present an engineering notebook. This is a requirement for qualification for the State/Regional Championships. Part of the notebook is a team presentation to the judges. Students will learn to speak in a public forum.
– There are many disciplines of the team. Not only will the STEM topics be well covered, we will also explore CAD drafting, additive manufacturing (3D printing), graphic arts, web design, marketing, brand management, social media and much more…

Fundraising Expectations
FUNDS WILL BE USED FOR, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: LOCATION COSTS, EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, TEAM SHIRTS, LIABILITY INSURANCE, ROBOT PARTS, ALL NECESSARY EQUIPMENT TO COMPETE, FIRST REGISTRATION FEES, ETC. TRAVEL EXPENSES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANDATORY FUNDRAISERS. HOWEVER, WE WILL HAVE FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES AS NEEDED TO HELP OFFSET THESE EXPENSES. TOAST IS A REGISTERED 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION.

Time Commitment

I understand that this FTC Robotics Team is a competitive team. We will meet a minimum of 6 hours per week during build season, which begins in September. (more details below)

Homeschool acknowledgement

I understand that TOASTs FTC Robotics Team is specifically for students who are traditionally homeschooled. Traditional Homeschooling is defined as education choices chosen by the parent and not overseen by any public schooling organization like EPIC, Oklahoma Connections, K12, etc. If your student participates public-school-at-home, and would still like the opportunity to participate in FIRST robotics, you can view teams available via the www.firstinspires.org website! If you would like to consider traditional homeschooling, there are many support groups available to help you on your journey! Or, feel free to fill out our contact form and we will help you in any way we can!

Parent Volunteers ~ TOAST is an all volunteer organization and survives on the gracious volunteers who care deeply about serving homeschool Youth with STEM opportunities.
